In a previous life, I would always find myself fiercely preoccupied May-through-June with designing and fund-raising for my final year students’ graduate showcase at New Designers in Islington, London.
The point of the show was to get our bright young things in front of industry types to support them into creative and meaningful employment. Busy and competitive as it was, we were always looking for impactful ways to draw in the crowds, and during our ten year stint at the Business Design Centre, we committed to some ambitious schemes… none more so than in 2017, when we thought it would be a jolly wheeze to float a giant helium-filled brain above our exhibition space.
Even jollier was the moment when the time came to take the giant brain out of the building and forcibly deflate it. My partner-in-crime in these images is one of my then-students, and my, how we laughed.
