Back in early 2023, I was approached by composer Joss Peach to produce a music video to accompany his new composition Prayer for Ukraine. It was one of those fascinating pro bono jobs where the challenge lies in coalescing a range of types of available footage into something that can work together to produce a particular mood or feeling. In short, this meant processing the footage in various ways to produce something archival, with the vulnerability and impressionism of older forms of photography. Joss’s music is doing the heavy-lifting here, evocative as it is, and my job was to follow the music’s journey through melancholy towards hope and celebration.

  1. This is excellent Phil. Those prayers still much needed too.
I love the sound of that clarinet-like instrument. The music is earthy and ethereal all at once. (K)
