In response to the Rothko-inspired Kick-About this week, I spent several happy hours standing inside the concrete confines of a newly emptied swimming pool. The patina of marks and colouration, as the concrete dried out, was an impressionist’s dream. In addition to taking a series of photographs, I wanted to capture something of those soft transitions from one ‘canvas’ to another as the concrete warmed under the sun. This short film goes someway to sharing what was magical about this ‘hole in the ground’.
